I had purchased an under-construction property in Thane in 2017 with the possession date of Dec 2020. The property is registered under RERA. However, for the last 1.5 years ( from March 2018 onwards) there has not been any progress in the construction ( builder states the current NBFC liquidity crisis as the reason). We created a group of other buyers (around 140+) and exploring the way forward. There are certain buyers in the group who had booked in 2014/2015 while there are others who booked in 2017/2018. I would like to know if we can file a complaint with RERA authority regarding the delay in the project since as per RERA agreement, the possession date is Dec 2020. However, we dont see any chance of the construction being completed by that time. What can we do?

If the date of possession is of December 2020, RERA will not entertain such complaint. In order to file a complaint in RERA for the delay in possession, you are required to wait beyond the period of the actual possession. Only then you can file a complaint in RERA. The other options available to you are of NCLT or NCDRC.
