The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has fixed time-limits for the filing of the initial pleadings in the Kulbhushan Jadhav Case. According to a Press Release, India has to file its memorial by September 13, 2017 and Pakistan has to file its counter-memorial by December 13, 2017.

The press release states:

“By an Order dated 13 June 2017, the President fixed 13 September 2017 and 13 December 2017 as the respective time-limits for the filing of a Memorial by India and a Counter-Memorial by Pakistan.

The President made the Order taking into account the views of the Parties. The subsequent procedure has been reserved for further decision.”

On May 18, the ICJ had granted India’s request for provisional measures in the case effectively staying  Jadhav’s execution pending the court’s decision on merits.
