Do Not Want Another Term As Attorney General, Mukul Rohatgi Tells Government

Attorney General for India Mukul Rohatgi has written to the Government saying that he does not wish to seek another term has the country’s top law officer.

The move comes just days after his term, which was to end on June 18, was extended for an indefinite period. Rohagti confirmed this development to BloombergQuint.

He said he had earlier worked as Additional Solicitor General, and now as Attorney General for 3 years, and now wishes to return to private practice.

As Attorney General, Rohatgi has represented the Government on important matters like the National Judicial Appointment Commission (NJAC) case and Aadhaar cases.

Rohatgi served as an Additional Solicitor General during the previous National Democratic Alliance government under Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s premiership.
