Arijit Das, a 16-year-old teenager from Birbhum died in the hospital ambulance last week, due to the negligent act of the hospital. It has been reported that the Hospital allegedly sent an AC mechanic posing as a doctor.

The teenager was preparing for his 10th class board exams and complained of having a fever to his family. The boy’s father first admitted him to the Rampurhat Sub-Divisional Hospital in Kolkata. However, as the boy’s condition worsened, his father took him to the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute for Cardiac Sciences (RTIICS) in a hope to get him better treatment.

After arriving at the hospital, the family got suspicious and ultimately discovered that the man posing as a doctor was actually an AC mechanic. The family has filed a police complaint against Sheikh Sarfarajuddin, the 25-years-old fake doctor and Tara Babu Sha, the 26-year-old ambulance driver. Both men have been arrested by the police.

This is not the first shocking case of medical negligence this month, as previously in a bizarre incident, a man’s severed leg was used as a pillow by doctors in a UP government hospital.

Medical negligence is one of the most common reasons for the death of people in India, with more cases being highlighted in the media almost every day. The law states that a consumer complaint can be filed against a doctor, medical practitioner or hospital for any act of medical negligence. A medical negligence lawyer in India can be consulted to take appropriate legal action.
