From today, Uber and Ola drivers will be going on an indefinite strike in Mumbai as the transport wing of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vahatuk Sena called for a strike of drivers working with these cab aggregators.

The strike has been called due to the failure of these cab companies to uphold their promises made to the drivers. The drivers have invested around Rs. 5-7 lakhs and were assured that they will make Rs. 1.5 lakhs per months in return. A representative of the MNVS stated that the drivers are not making even half of the amount promised.

There are more than 45,000 drivers working in association with companies like Uber and Ola. However, they have alleged that their business has been decreased by 20%. They have also alleged that taxi-companies have been given a preference over individual drivers, which has affected their business to a great extent.

Mumbai police issued a notice to the Union leaders under Section 149 of CrPC against any unlawful assembly by the cab drivers.

Ola drivers in cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Pune and Hyderabad will also be participating in the strike.
