Rahul Gandhi has said that Congress will ensure that the Narmada water reaches every farmer in the next five years, in an attempt to hijack the BJP poll plank of completing the project. He was addressing a rally in Banaskantha in North Gujarat on Sunday.
As the BJP has been trying to take credit for raising the dam heights and closing the dam gates, Rahul said the water is yet to reach the farmers. "In 22 years, BJP has been claiming to have completed the Narmada project. We will ensure that water reaches every farmer," he said, referring to the incomplete work.

"When Rajiv Gnadhu talked of IT and telecom revolution, the BJP made fun of him. Today, the BJP-led government is on my father's path,"
Gandhi told a rally in Palanpur town. He also targeted Gujarat CM Vijay rupani over the Securities and Exchange Board of Indua (SEBI) slapping a fine on his firm for alleged manipulative share trade, and sought PM's comments. Gandhi said the market regulator termed Rupani "beimaan (dishonest)" and imposed a fine on him.
SEBI had reportedly fined 22 entities, including Rupani's Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) firm, Saran Chemicals Ltd, for alleged manipulative trading. But Rupani refuted the allegation, saying that the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) had set aside the fine of Rs 6.91 crore imposed on 22 entities, including his firm.
