1. The Pant Case

In 2007, when Custom Cleaners, a dry cleaner, returned the wrong pair of pants, Judge Roy Pearson, an administrative law judge, decided to take action and sued the dry cleaner for $67 million. He claimed that the pants he dropped off for alteration had been lost and the dry cleaner did not meet the claim of the “satisfaction guaranteed” sign that hung in the dry cleaner’s window. The $67 million, which later was lowered to $53 million. Eventually, the judge lost the case after he failed to prove the trousers he picked up were not his.

2. Inmate Sued Himself

Robert Lee Brock was a prisoner in Virginia in 1995. He wanted to be removed from prison so he could enter a mental institution. To make this happen, he decided to sue himself for $5 million, claiming that he committed a crime while he was drunk. In the end, the case was dismissed as the judge was unimpressed by Brock’s ingenuity and he failed to get his transfer
