In the case of Muslims, the pre-Islamic traditions and Islamic law of inheritance in India are applied. The Islamic law of inheritance in India depends on the kind of property. When the person has not left any will i.e. he/she has died intestate, the Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act, 1937 is applicable.
