Normally, Investments in India are governed by the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy and FEMA Regulations. FDI policy contains set of rules which are to be followed while investing in India and there are restriction on investment on certain sectors. Prohibited sector includes Lottery business, chit funds, Real estate business or construction of farm house, Manufactures of cigars, Tobacco etc., Railway, Atomic etc.An online application is to be made and when the case is put up for discussion, the investor or his appointed professional can make a presentation. Please note that the FIPB is a highly transparent mechanism and it is indeed very fair to the investors.
