Delhi Value Added Tax Act, 2004 is a multi-stage tax on sale of goods, work contract, lease and hire purchase in Delhi.

Delhi Value Added Tax Act, 2004 replaced four statutes: Delhi Sales Tax Act, 1975, Delhi Sales Tax on Works Contract Act, 1999, Delhi Tax on Entry of Motor Vehicles into Local Areas Act, 1994 and Right to Use Goods Act, 2002.

DVAT Act was passed by the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi on the 22nd December 2004 and received the assent of the President of India on 15th February 2005.
