Sir my mother's grandfather died 10 years ago. My mother's grandfather has two daughters and 3 sons. My mothers grandfather got 1 acre from his father. Now family members are planning to split the 1 acre land into 5 for my mothers- mother and another four members. My question is my mother is eldest granddaughter whether signature of my mother is compulsory for their documentation. And whether they can split the land without my mother's(Eldest Granddaughter) signature.

Since it is an ancestral property, all the entitled family members are to be the signatories to any sort of deeds. In case, any family partition deed is executed without grand daughter's signature, she can object to it at any time when she gains knowledge about it.
